Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about a different work of art each week including its material, artist, time, culture, and history.
I have taught art history and art courses for over five years to students ranging from five to college aged. I have a masters in Art history and Museum Studies.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please review the art list so you are familiar with the art your child will learn about. Some art includes nudity, violence, war, or themes your child may not be prepared for. All topics are approached with sensitivity and open mindedness.
This class is designed with a combination of years of art history experience, resources from articles and sites like JSTORE, KhanAcademy, and Smarthistory. Each work of art is individually researched. I aim to have general and scholarly articles as sources. Primary research is from Art History by Stockstad, articles from the museums which house the collection including the following: https://www.mauritshuis.nl/en/our-collection/artworks/670-girl-with-a-pearl-earring/ http://www.worldsbestpaintings.net/artistsandpaintings/painting/210/ https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20191029-king-tutankhamun-the-tragic-cause-of-the-pharaohs-cult The Art of David Bradley by Alexandra Johnson published 2019 With each artwork I aim to have at least three sources to verify information,
