In this Flex class your child will learn about three or four U.S. states each week. This class is appropriate for Grades 1-3, but the age range is flexible. Through video lessons, Mrs. G. will teach about one state each day by reading a book about the state of the day, locating each state on the United States of America map, listening to the state songs and completing fun activities relevant to each state. Information learned will include state symbols, capitals, flags, geography, state...
Learning Goals: Obtain a general knowledge of the 50 U.S. states and be able to recall capitals and geographical location of U.S. states.
As an optional project, learners may choose to write a written report and/or create a poster of the U.S. state of their choice. Projects will be assessed by Mrs. G. and feedback given. Guidelines for project will be given upon request.
Any supplies needed for class will be posted in the classroom 2-3 days before the video is released. Typical supplies would be blank paper, construction paper, pencils, crayons, scissors, glue stick and any printouts from Mrs. G. The first video for each week will be posted by Monday 10am CST each week and all videos will be posted by Wednesday 10am CST each week. It is also recommended that students keep a notebook and/or binder to keep track of information.
