US Grade 8 - 11
In this live ongoing writing class, students will be given the opportunity to practice their creative writing skills and presentation skills. Methodology: This class will meet live, once per week. Students will be given one or more prompts each class, as time allows. The number of prompts given will vary based on the number of participants each class session, but will never be less than one. The writing prompt may be read aloud by the instructor, or it may be an image or video clip. After receiving the writing prompt, students will have five minutes to write a short story based upon the prompt. After the five minutes are over, each student will take turns sharing their story with the class. Students do not need any background knowledge, but must be able to write or type a short story. Students will interact with the class and the instructor by reading aloud their stories. Students will also be given the opportunity to ask questions about the stories shared by others.
