Class Experience

My goal is to teach students life skills by being able to follow recipes to make food from scratch and to handle food safely. They will learn how to use an oven, pay close attention to details, proper food handling, and using ovens safely. We go over some fun and useful facts about food and how the ingredients work together.
This class will have no homework, but practice is encouraged
*this recipe is gluten and dairy free- it can be made vegan by using an egg substitue: *Please have all supplies ready for the beginning of class. We will measure out ingredients during class. -1 cup of smooth or crunchy peanut butter (natural peanut butter will also work; make sure it is well mixed and chilled first if using) -1 cup of sugar -coarse salt for sprinkling (optional) -1 tsp vanilla -1 egg -1/4 cup chocolate chips (optional) -1 medium/large mixing bowl -Large mixing spoon, and 1 or 2 additional standard spoons -Baking sheet (2 is preferred, or 1 large baking sheet; recipe makes 20 cookies) -Parchment paper or silpat (silicone baking sheet) -measuring cup -teaspoon -tablespoon -1 fork -Clean dish towel -Oven mit or potholder for removing hot baking sheet from oven
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No assessment
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will use an oven- adult supervision is advised
