In this 5-day camp, students will learn the fundamentals in figure drawing, basic anatomy, proportions and designer sketches. This class will focus on textile characteristics of elaborate holiday party ensembles.

In this week-long camp, students will start with a new party outfit every day. Students will learn the tools they need to begin their artistic journey into self-expression, reflection, and creative thinking in the world of fashion illustration. Student will learn croquis construction followed by a holiday outfit illustration. They will draw all 5 party ensembles in this camp. Day 1 - We will draw the red blouse and shorts set. Students will start with anatomy theories, then they will learn how to apply those rules to construct a croquis. Poses of croquis will be discussed. Special design features include how to illustrate fuzzy textures of fabrics and 3D floral appliqués, how to draw sheen on fabric, etc. Day 2 - We will draw the white blouse and black skirt outfit. Students will start with anatomy theories, then they will learn how to apply those rules to construct a croquis. Poses of croquis will be discussed. Special design features include how to illustrate multi-layer ruffles, how to create volume in fabrics, etc. Day 3 - We will draw the black lace shirt and gold feather skirt set. Students will start with anatomy theories, then they will learn how to apply those rules to construct a croquis. Poses of croquis will be discussed. Special design features include how to illustrate intricate lace details, how to incorporate swinging movement of tassels in a realistic way, etc. Day 4 - We will draw the purple long gown. Students will start with anatomy theories, then they will learn how to apply those rules to construct a croquis. Poses of croquis will be discussed. Special design features include how to illustrate 3D floral design, how to draw the layers of a fish tail design, and the translucent quality of organza fabric, etc. Day 5 - We will draw the red lace shirt and red skirt set. Students will start with anatomy theories, then they will learn how to apply those rules to construct a croquis. Poses of croquis will be discussed. Special design features include how to illustrate intricate lace details, how to illustrate asymmetrical ruffles, etc. This class introduces students to basic design principles, including proportion and color. Garment and clothing details are also discussed. Students will learn basic anatomy, figure and technical drawings techniques in croquis construction. Students will focus on learning the basics of garment detail drawing in terms of textile characteristics, how various types of fabric fold and move differently, and how to apply such knowledge to properly draw the clothed body. Once they built a solid foundation and keep practicing, they will be able to design a multitude of unique designs of their own. Classes are highly interactive and students will have the opportunity to socialize and share their ideas in a fun and upbeat environment. It is a beginner level class for students who would like to be future fashion designers, costume designers or fashion illustrators.

Teacher Allie is a contemporary artist who loves to indulge in all mediums, but focuses most on drawing and painting. She holds a BFA degree of the California State University Long Beach, and is pursuing a career in teaching art. Her art influence began at a young age, but she considers herself “self-taught.” Allie is passionate about encouraging students to master the fundamental skills and technical aspects of creating, but also develop a style that is unique to each student. Her promise is to encourage a mindset where students are confident in themselves and their ability to create.
Teacher Ang is a professional artist and 3D Modeler. She earned her BFA in Animation from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Aside from working as a Freelance Gameplay Animator and 3D Artist, she loves encouraging her students’ curiosity and helping them develop a passion for art. She strives to teach students skills that can bring their voices and ideas to reality. She believes that by building a foundational skill set, her students will be able to approach their artworks with new perspectives.
Teacher Brittany is a professional artist and illustrator. She holds a BA in Arts with a concentration on Visual Technology from the George Mason University in Virginia. She gained valuable industry experience as Technology Lead and Animation Instructor at art schools. She has worked as a freelance concept artist and illustrator in game design. She utilizes a background in comics, storyboarding and animation to bring creative concepts to life. With a strong background in traditional and digital painting, Brittany is currently teaching a wide variety of classes in various mediums to merge her love for illustration, painting and game development.
Teacher Katie is a professional artist with a background rooted in animation, where she crafts captivating illustrations for a diverse clientele. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Entertainment Arts and Animation from the California State University of Fullerton, and utilizes her love of telling stories through her work in story-boarding, illustration, and animation. Her passion in theatrical and costume design and the entertainment industry in general has contributed to an innovative approach in her teaching as well as inspired many students that she met in her classes. Teacher Katie is committed to nurturing an atmosphere of intrigue and creativity, where she empowers her students to unearth their unique narratives within their artistic work.
Teacher Palm is a professional fashion and costume designer familiar with the complete product creation life cycle from initial concept to constructed design. She holds a degree in Fashion Design from The Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition to over 10 years of teaching art and fashion, she is also experienced in staging collections in numerous international Fashion Shows for luxury clients including Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Ann Taylor and Kenneth Cole. She gained valuable industry experience in the capacity of Creative Consultant for designers, theaters and art schools. Palm is also proficient in a wide range of fine arts such as watercolor, oil, pencil, pastel, etc. and approaches her teachings with a calm mind, optimism and positive affirmation.
