5-Day Bilingual Mandarin-English Storytime Camp of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”

In this 5-day camp course, students will hear a popular children’s book in both Mandarin and English, and learn the colors, numbers, the days of the week, food names, the life cycle of a butterfly, phrases and more in both languages.
Class experience
Research shows that learning another language can be extremely beneficial for young learners. Children exposed to a second language have enhanced concentration, improved memory, and better listening skills. Traditional/Simplified words will be introduced from the story. Topics, such as numbers, colors, food names, days of the week, and more, will be covered. Students will hear a bilingual reading of a popular children’s book and review the topics of colors, numbers, food names, days of the week, the life cycle of a butterfly and a few phrases in Mandarin. The 5-day camp will be taught in English and Mandarin, allowing students to understand and follow along.
Homework Offered
Optional homework pages will be provided for additional review outside of the 5 part-course.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

A one-page handout of the Mandarin/English words and phrases we will cover from the storytime will be provided for each day. Students may write down notes, however, Teacher Stephenie recommends that the student only listens, pay attention and participates during class, as the handout will have all the important information on it. Other courses will be offered with arts and crafts activities and more specifically focused topics from this reading. Be sure to follow me and stay tuned.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
