This class is taught in English.
Students will learn about Character Traits and how to use evidence from the text to analyze characters. A better understanding of characterization will also improve Reading Comprehension and Writing skills.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and have been a teacher for 19 years. I specifically have taught 3rd-5th ELA for 16 years. I trained in Brain Based strategies for 5 years and utilized those strategies in my classroom for 9 years. Over the past 19 years, I have completed hundreds of hours of Professional Development and research in areas such as: Reading Intervention, Student Growth and Achievement, and Learning Disabilities.
Students are encouraged to share what they learned in class with their parents/caregivers. There will be a short extension activity to complete at the end of class for Weeks 1 and 2. It should not take longer than 15-20 minutes.
There will be a new PDF available for download before each class. Pencils are needed as well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
