In this one time class students will listen to the teacher read books about Independence Day in the United States. Depending on the amount of class discussion we will read one to three books from the list below. The topics covered will include the origins of the holiday and traditional activities people participate in. This will be a fun casual class where students can share their past experiences with the 4th of July and share plans they have for this year's celebration of America's birthday. Your child may be interested in signing up for this class several times to hear various books on the topic. I am a fun and casual teacher. I've taught over 7500 classes online. I believe a child who is having fun and laughing in class will learn and retain more information over time. I enjoy the unique opportunities to teach each student at the level they need, in the way they need it.
Children learn best when they are active participants in the things they are learning. We will read books, sing, rhyme, play, and dance. Children's questions and ideas are part of the process. I love to teach in the moment. If there is a question that applies or a new learning opportunity I roll with it. I will challenge your child to stretch and try new things. I will find ways to help your child participate no matter their previous experience or lack of experience with online learning.
I believe the object of education is to teach the young to educate themselves through out their lives. My goal is that each interaction will become a tiny stepping stone to further learning and greater independence.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood
Education. In addition to teaching on Outschool, I am an online ESL (English teacher), a former elementary classroom teacher, and a homeschool mom of five children. I specialize in teaching young children, toddlers, preschoolers, children of all ages. I am TEFL certified with an Advanced Certificate in Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL). I have experience teaching infants to teens in all subject areas. I have worked with children that have special needs including physical, verbal, and learning differences. I have been an exercise instructor, a gymnastics party host, a dance studio receptionist, and a nanny for foster children with special needs.
I have a minor in French and I am learning Spanish. I have visited 35 U.S. states, Washington D.C., France, Mexico, The Netherlands, Canada, Honduras, Romania, and The Bahamas. Along with my husband I love to explore various cultures and eat all types of international foods especially Thai and Indian food! Along with my family I have raised horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, dogs, cats, gerbils, guinea pigs, birds and many backyard frogs and bugs. Learning is my adventure!
