Class Experience

This will be the fall semester of 4th grade math. It will be Part 2 of 2 in a series. If you were in the class 4Th Grade Math Part 1, this is Part 2 and you are in the right place!
It is the same as my full semester math course, but it is broken down into 2 sections. The reason for this is 2 fold,1) parents can decide if this math class is a goof fit for them and their learner and 2) also makes it easier to budget.
It will last for 8 weeks, meeting 2 times a week for 55 minutes. Classes will start with review and basic facts practice. New learning will be modeled and explained. Discussions will happen and questions will be answered to aid in mastery. There will be google slides to view and video clips to watch and discuss. We will also play games to reinforce skills. INB pieces will need to be printed out so we can put it in the notebook and we can reference as needed during lessons, homework, and while working on projects.
If you and your learner do like this course and decide to take Part 2, I will notify parents and learners in Part 1 before others so you can easily sign up and "keep" your spot! :)
Topics will be broken up over the 16 weeks as follows:
Week 1- Multiplying by 10 ans 100, mental math, multiplying 1 digit by 1 digit, and multiplying 1 digit by 2 digits
Week 2- Multiplying 1 digit by 3 digits, multiplying 1 digit by 4 digits, estimating to find products
Week 3- Multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits & Rounding to estimate products
Week 4- Division strategies, mental math, dividing 2 digits by 1 digit, and dividing 3 digits by 1 digit -No Remainders
Week 5- Division strategies, dividing 2 digits by 1 digit, and dividing 3 digits by 1 digit, dividing 4 digits by 1 digit - No Remainders
Week 6- Division dividing 2 digits by 1 digit, and dividing 3 digits by 1 digit -with Remainders
Week 7- Division dividing 2 digits by 1 digit, and dividing 3 digits by 1 digit, dividing 4 digits by 1 digit -with Remainders
Week 8- review of skills and explanation of final project-brainstorming ideas, working on project, and sharing final project with the group

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching 19 years. I am certified to teach Pre-K through 5th grade. I have my Specialist degree in Early Childhood Education. I have taught all subjects including math. Since many students seem to struggle with math (like I did in school), I try to make it fun and easy to understand. I start with the basics and them move up, as with anything, the foundation is crucial.
