Class Experience
Students will be learning 4th grade Common Core Math Standards.
I have been a licensed teacher for the last 12 years, 10 of which I worked in a classroom, as a math teacher. I have specific experience working with students to develop their math skills and identifying gaps in foundational knowledge that when targeted can allow students to excel in math. I have experience working with students with IEPs (Individualized Education Plan) to improve their math skills. I love making learning fun!
While homework is "optional", practice is an important part of the learning process and vital to mastery of math concepts. Students will be provided a mix of digital homework, as well as paper based homework that will need to be printed (or transcribed to notebook paper). Homework is self-graded by families and an answer key will be provided. *Homework Help* - Students or parents are encouraged to reach out with homework questions and bring questions to the following class meeting. *Additional support can be provided upon request.
Please ensure your child has a personal dry erase whiteboard or paper and pencil each day for our class meetings. A math notebook, to take notes and write examples is highly recommended.
Exit tickets and quizzes will be given at the end of units to determine areas for continued focus.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
During class we may be using the following platforms: Kahoot.it Gimkit.com/join https://nearpod.com/student/ Students do not need an account to access these platforms. Learners will be given a game code to access the lesson material during class.
