Join Our 4th Grade Full Curriculum Class at Cherry Learning Center! Class Overview: This comprehensive class provides all the tools needed for success in fourth grade. We cover Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies, with an emphasis on making learning engaging through music, dancing, and chanting. Our curriculum meets the United States National Council for Social Studies and Common Core standards. 📢 Please note that the price is for an entire year's worth of live classes for the full school year! Interactive Learning: Students will use IXL for practice, which provides feedback and reinforcement but will not require homework assignments. All class materials will be provided through the Outschool platform. Curriculum Breakdown: Reading and Writing: Phonics Reading Comprehension (various story types) Spelling (new words weekly) Writing Grammar and Punctuation Literature Poetry Math: Place Value, Rounding, and Algorithms for Addition and Subtraction Unit Conversions and Problem Solving with Metric Measurement Multi-Digit Multiplication and Division Angle Measure and Plane Figures Fraction Equivalence, Ordering, and Operations Decimal Fractions Exploring Multiplication with Larger Numbers Social Studies: Understanding Maps and Creating Maps Difference Between Continents and States Building and Understanding Communities Citizenship and Good Citizenship Map Reading Skills National and Worldwide Landmarks Government (Local, State, Federal, and World Governments) Science: Classification of Animals (Vertebrates and Invertebrates) The Human Body (Skeletal, Muscular, Nervous Systems) Light and Vision Astronomy and Space (Properties and Movements of Celestial Bodies) Forces and Motion Weekly Breakdown: 🔴Weeks 1-3: Welcome Weeks Creative Writing: Getting to know each other, parts of speech, similes, metaphors, punctuation, and spelling rules. Write multiple-paragraph pieces with specific purposes. English/Reading: Use root words to determine meanings. Math: Place Value, Rounding, Algorithms for Addition and Subtraction. Social Studies: State Government (students learn based on their own state). 🔴Weeks 4-8: Writing: Grammar usage, original compositions, various writing styles (chronological, cause and effect, personal experience). English/Reading: Interpret words with multiple meanings, figurative language (simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification). Math: Unit Conversions and Problem Solving with Metric Measurement. Social Studies: Local Government. 🔴Weeks 9-13: Writing: Narrative and descriptive writing, focusing on voice and style. English/Reading: Summarize texts, analyze character development and plot. Math: Multi-Digit Multiplication and Division. Social Studies: National Government. 🔴Weeks 14-18: Writing: Persuasive writing, developing arguments and supporting evidence. English/Reading: Analyze text structure, identify main ideas and details. Math: Angle Measure and Plane Figures. Science: Classification of Animals. 🔴Weeks 19-23: Writing: Poetry and creative writing, focusing on rhythm and structure. English/Reading: Compare and contrast different texts. Math: Fraction Equivalence, Ordering, and Operations. Science: The Human Body. 🔴Weeks 24-27: Writing: Research writing, presenting information clearly. English/Reading: Reading comprehension strategies, summarizing and inferring. Math: Decimal Fractions. Science: Light and Vision. 🔴Weeks 28-32: Writing: Final projects and presentations. English/Reading: Preparing for end-of-year assessments. Math: Advanced problem-solving and review. Science: Astronomy and Space. 📢Important Notes: Printables will be sent out every Friday/Sunday evening. Students will receive a letter grade at the end of the course.
