During this math bootcamp, students will be introduced to multiple Common Core and traditional strategies in fraction addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students will also decompose fractions, find equivalent fractions, and also order fractions based on size. Fraction addition, subtraction, multiplication and division involving proper fractions, improper fractions, and mixed numbers. Concrete, pictorial, and abstract problems will be provided.
Having taught over 21 years of math in a full time classroom and hundreds of students, I know how to redirect confusion, stop-out misconceptions, and break down difficult concepts into small manageable pieces. I have worked with students of all levels and ages, and extensive trainings in multiple math programs and curriculums. Homework Offered
Students will have some VOLUNTARY independent practice after each class. This is require about 15-20 minutes after class.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be given feedback immediately in class as they work problems. Parents can be provided with an end of week summary of their child's performance and understanding upon request.Grades Offered
Students will need lined paper, grid paper, white printer paper, pencils, colored pencils and a ruler. PDFs will be provided at times which will need to be printed prior to class. Some students may benefit from hands on fraction bars, but they are not required.
