Class Experience

-The student will design an experiment including a testable question and hypothesis
-The student will recognize science measurement tools (thermometer, triple beam balance, pan balance, graduated cylinder, etc.) and know how to use them
-The student will classify matter by it's physical properties
-The student will identify which mixtures/solutions can be separated and describe how they can separated
-The student will identify the 5 forms of energy and recognize when they are being used
-The student will calculate net force by identifying balanced and unbalanced forces
-The student will describe the difference between weather and climate
-The student will explain the role of the sun in the water cycle
I am certified to teach science up to 6th grade in Texas. I am currently teaching science to 5th graders and host an after school STEM/science club for 3rd-5th graders.
Students will be asked to complete an activity before each meeting. This activity may include an introduction to the next lesson or a review from the lesson. The homework will not be extremely lengthy but you can expect 1-2 hours a week depending on how fast your learner works. Some materials will need to be printed.
Students will need -Printed materials and handouts (provided) -1 composition book or other journal -Pencils and colored pencils -Scissors -Glue I will use other materials in class for demonstrations. Students will be able to see the demonstration on camera. If you would like your learner to participate by doing their own demonstration, a list of materials will be provided before the respective class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Printable materials will be provided. The use of some digital or printable reading will be accessed occasionally.
