In this ongoing creative writing class, learners will have a short writing assignment for the prompt of the day. Students will have to time to complete their writing of the prompt and may read their writing to the class for class feedback.

Overview:
Welcome to the Elementary Creative Writing Club! This is a fun, interactive class where young writers will explore the exciting world of storytelling, develop their creativity, and build essential writing skills. Each session is designed to spark imagination and encourage self-expression while fostering a love for writing.

What Will Be Taught?

-Foundational creative writing skills, such as brainstorming, organizing ideas, and crafting complete sentences and paragraphs.
-The structure of a story, including beginnings, middles, and endings.
-How to express opinions through writing and expand on a given idea.
-Creative techniques for storytelling, like using prompts, games, and visual cues.

What Topics Will be Covered?

-Opinion Writing – Students will practice forming and sharing their opinions in writing.
-"Finish the Story" Exercise – Learners will complete a story that’s already been started, 
                                                   adding their own imaginative twists.
-Roll-a-Story Activity – Students will roll dice to choose characters, settings, and plot 
                                          elements to create unique and entertaining stories.

How is the Class Structured?

Each class is structured to provide variety, engagement, and a balance of guidance and independent creativity:

-Warm-up Activity: Fun exercises to spark creativity, such as quick word games or story 
             prompts.
-Main Activity: A guided writing session based on the weekly theme 
              (e.g., "Roll-a-Story" or opinion writing).
-Sharing & Discussion: Students will share their stories or ideas with the group, offering 
              positive feedback and encouragement.
-Wrap-up: Recap of what was learned and a quick preview of the next session.

How Will You Teach?
The class will be highly interactive, using a mix of teaching methods:

-Mini-Lectures: Brief explanations of key writing concepts using slides and visual aids.
-Games: Fun, writing-themed games like "Roll-a-Story" to inspire ideas.
-Writing Time: Hands-on opportunities for students to create their own stories, poems, o 
          or opinion pieces.
-Discussion: Group discussions to share ideas and provide supportive peer feedback.
-Multimedia: Occasional video clips or images to stimulate creativity and imagination.

What’s Your Teaching Style?
My teaching style is engaging, supportive, and playful. I aim to create a welcoming environment where every student feels confident to express themselves. I balance structure and flexibility, providing clear instructions but leaving plenty of room for creativity. I believe in encouraging each student’s unique voice and helping them develop their own storytelling style.

How Much Will Learners Get to Interact?
Learners will have plenty of opportunities to interact:

=Guided Writing Activities: I’ll provide one-on-one support as needed during writing 
          time.
-Group Games: Collaborative and fun, like "Roll-a-Story."
-Discussions: Students will share their work and give positive feedback to peers.
-Q&A Time: Students can ask questions and share ideas throughout the session.


This club is perfect for young writers who want to build confidence, explore their creativity, and have fun!

Learning Goals

Students will strengthen their creativity through writing about various topics in various formats. Students will learn how to write in the format of the day and will gain feedback on their writing including; grammar, punctuation, creativity, flow, etc.

Parental Guidance
Students will be working on their writing assignment during class, but if they do not finish they will need to complete outside of class and submit to me. I will be using a google slide to show the topic and format of the creative writing prompt.
Supply List
Students will need either access to google documents, word, or some other form of space for them to write and submit their work. If students prefer to handwrite their pieces and can take a picture of their work to submit that will be acceptable.
