This 10 week class provides the opportunity to engage in discussion-based and reading response focused formats while we analyze the novel, “Holes” by Louis Sachar. This course will develop and strengthen critical thinking skills.

Class Experience

Students will strengthen reading strategies such as comprehension, compare and contrast, asking questions, making predictions and inferencing. Students will have exposure to a novel that will expose them to different story elements and rich vocabulary that will provide them with opportunities to apply what they have learned in class and build on their critical thinking abilities and strengthen their overall reading skills . 
Paper (Classwork document printed/or digital)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
