Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 12
This class is an introduction to the fascinating world of fungi through the lens of Pokémon. This course is also a great addition to a unit on plant life, as many learners are unaware of the difference between plants and fungi. We cover the difference between spores and seeds, the difference between producers (like plants) and decomposers (like fungi), how fungi do NOT do photosynthesis, etc. We also go into detail about good vs. toxic fungi, and discuss some weird and unique mushroom species. Check out the syllabus for more detailed outline of what we will cover.

This is a self-paced course. Each lesson contains one recording (each about 10-17 minutes long) plus extension activities to expand your learning beyond the recording. All extension activities are optional and at the discretion of the parent.

Need a discount? Sure thing! All of my self-paced courses are "pay what you can afford." To get the discount you need, sign up for the course first, then message me with the discount you would like, and I will apply a partial refund.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We do talk about plant reproduction very briefly in this class, and I compare it to sperm and egg reproduction in humans. I don't go into any details, but some students might feel discomfort or confusion if they haven't yet learned about how mammals create babies.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Most of my classes come with projects or extension activities your child can do at home. Because every family situation is different, all of these activities and assignments are optional and at the discretion of the parent.
