Are you looking for a fun ELA class that your child will be excited to attend? This is the class for you! This class can be used as a full curriculum for homeschool students and can also be used as reinforcement for struggling students. The ongoing format of this class allows students to start and stop when needed. When we complete all 22 weeks of curriculum, the class will repeat so weeks missed can be made up easily. Each week students will work on three basic skills: Grammar Reading Comprehension Writing Students will be presented with one grammar topic per week and activities to reinforce knowledge of the lesson. Students will reading short passages in class. The purpose of short passages is to create a love of reading without overwhelming the student with large amount of text. We will work on reading comprehension through the use of focus questions each day of the week. Students will be asked to write passages about what they read. This will strengthen and support reading comprehension skills. Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taught children 2 - 13 yrs old in a classroom setting for 20 yrs. In 2008, I joined a co-op elementary school with a constructivist approach. I believe whole-heartedly in the constructivist approach for children because it involves children being actively involved in the knowledge construction as opposed to passively receiving information.
I enjoy teaching a wide variety of subjects including lower elementary language arts, math, and science lab classes because I can apply my constructivist approach to help the children think outside of the box, problem solve, and make conclusions from their experiences in my classes.
My teaching style is very interactive. My classes include discussion, interaction, and a lot of learner feedback and support. I believe that learning should be fun, as well as, educational for my students. I believe that learners should thoroughly enjoy learning in order to produce life long learners. Learner interests are always taken into consideration when creating my class curriculum.
In addition to teaching, I am a mom of five, dog mom to two, and cat mom to 3! I love my large family and I wouldn't have it any other way! I hope to meet your learner in my classroom!
