This course will cover the basics of the Common Core Third Grade Math Standards. We recommend that students who are either entering third grade or who have just completed third grade enroll in this course. Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Multiplication and DivisionThis lesson explores both multiplication and division. Numbers are represented visually with equal groups and arrays. A homework packet is assigned.Lesson 2Multiplication ReviewThis lesson explores multiplication in the real world with an activity and project. A review game is also assigned for homework.Week 2Lesson 3Multiplication and Division FactsThis lesson relates multiplication and division. Facts families are introduced to strengthen multiplication and division skills. A homework packet is assigned.Lesson 4Division Facts ReviewThis lesson explores how division strategies can be used to solve real-world problems, such as designing a zoo. A review game is also assigned for homework.Week 3Lesson 5Multiplication Table Patterns and FluencyThis lesson reviews multiplication tables through pattern recognition, using the table to solve multiplication problems, and filling in missing values in the table. A homework packet is assigned.Lesson 6Multiplication Table ReviewThis lesson focuses on multiplication table skills through interactive games and a performance task about sports. A homework worksheet is assigned.Week 4Lesson 7Multiplication FactsThis lesson reviews multiplication facts, including multiplying by 2, 5, 10, 1, and 0. The distributive property is also reviewed. A homework packet is assigned.Lesson 8Multiplication Facts ReviewThis lesson reviews all multiplication facts from 0-10 with flashcards, games, and visual activities. A homework puzzle is assigned.Week 5Lesson 9Area and MultiplicationThis lesson explores area of rectangles and other shapes by multiplying or counting unit squares. Standard units of area and the distributive property are also reviewed. A homework packet is assigned.Lesson 10Area and Multiplication ReviewThis lesson reviews area and multiplication with an interactive activity, a performance task about a garden, and games. A math art project is assigned.Week 6Lesson 11Round and Estimate NumbersThis lesson explores rounding to the nearest ten and hundred in real world situations by using number lines. A homework packet is assigned.Lesson 12Round and Estimate Numbers ReviewThis lesson reviews how rounding multi-digit numbers to the nearest hundred is useful when going on a trip.
