This class is perfect for kids aged 8-9 who want to become awesome readers! I'll teach them all about spelling and vocabulary with short and long vowels, k sounds, silent consonants, and more. Each student will want to try reading more books outside of class. This will give them the opportunity to dive into lots of awesome books and feel more confident about reading! So, what's the plan for each class? First things first: short and long vowels. We’ll go over short and long vowels, and make sure the concept is understood. If they're just starting out, we’ll continue until they feel ready to move on. If I already know the learner, I'll pick up where we left off going on to spelling and vocabulary, language arts, and so on depending on how well they did the last time we met. Is it fun? I love to make everything colorful and fun. Bring colors, markers, colored pencils, blank, construction, or lined paper and I will make sure the learner uses everything up! What times are you free? Hey, take a look at my schedule that's up right now and see if you can fit in any of those times. *What are the prerequisites? None. I just want the learner to be mature enough to handle 20 minutes of learning. So, what are we going to talk about? short and long vowels k sounds, silent consonants words ending in ed or ing, words with ie and ei, commonly misspelled words, plurals, irregular plurals, context clues, and more!
