This class meets twice weekly to practice reading and writing skills specifically for 3rd grade students! Each class is independent of the other classes and students are welcome to join class at any time.

While homework is optional, reinforcing the skills learned in class is a critical part of the learning process. For reading assignments, answer keys will be provided for families to support learning at home. *Assignments will be given at the first class meeting (Monday or Tuesday) and should be submitted before the following Monday or Tuesday class meeting.Class Experience

Welcome to my 3rd grade Reading and Writing class! As a certified teacher, with 10 years of classroom experience prior to joining Outschool, I am prepared to engage your learner in an amazing experience that will support their reading and writing growth every week! Each class we enjoy reading a high interest passage together and discussing the passage. We love "readers' theaters" which is where each student has "lines" to read. We have so much fun, and I know your learner will look forward to our time together each week. We also focus on writing in every class. Typically, we build on the topic from our reading passage. We are working through the steps of the writing process, and building stronger, more robust writing to prepare us for 4th grade. Each class we will focus on 3rd grade skills, specific to their level and tied to the standards of the Common Core. Students are encouraged to join this class at any time. Topics do not build and each class is independent of the other classes! Reading resources will come from Readworks.org

Students will master 3rd grade Common Core reading and writing skills.

Supply List
Students will need to have a notebook or binder to contain their reading/writing materials. Students should also bring sharpened pencils to class. Please check the classroom in advance of each class for items to print and bring to class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

My name is Jennifer Boham and I have been teaching math for 15 years. I hold a Florida Teaching License with certifications in Elementary Education and Middle School Math.
I love helping students overcome learning blocks like frustration, self-doubt, and of course boredom. My goal is to make sure your child feels supported in class and confident in their academic ability. I achieve this through patience, kindness, positive encouragement and lots of FUN.
When I was a young student, I actually struggled with math! This gives me a unique perspective and helps me reach students who are feeling frustrated. I overcame that frustration because I realized that my mindset was the only thing in the way. I realized that math could actually be fun! I never would have believed that before! Here I am, many years later, starting my 16th year of teaching math - another plot twist! I look forward to helping your learner find joy in learning math this school year and gain the confidence that will propel them forward, helping them reach their dreams.
My family and I live in Florida with our dogs Pepper and Dexter and our cat Junebug. I enjoy traveling, gardening, biking, relaxing at the beach and going to Disney!
