US Grade 3
Good morning/afternoon boys and girls, My name is Mrs. Moore and let's begin with standing and saying the US "Pledge of Allegiance". (Don't forget to salute the flag). Now, we will go over the calendar and discover what our "national day of...is today". There will also be a Spanish "word of the day"! Hola! Before we begin our core subjects, we are now going to go around and share something interesting that happened to us the day before and practice our socialization skills. (By the way, there is nothing wrong with an (age-appropriate) joke instead! Monday/Wednesday/Friday: Reading: Students will be able to retrieve and interpret important data from our daily readings. Students will also be given the option to read out loud and become more fluent readers as the child learns to read, define, and pronounce complex words. Writing: Students will be able to compose a summary, support details and revise their answers while writing an essay with a simple thesis statement. The student will be supporting details, and include a thoughtful concluding sentence. They will be building skills in the writing process — (research, planning, organizing, and editing). Tuesday/Thursday: Math: Students will be able to apply and recall addition and subtraction facts, know the place value for each number, understand the division process and solve our daily word problems Art: Students will be able to display and sketch a picture that represents one of our weekly themes.
