US Grade 3
HELLO!!
Join us in this complete curriculum class for 2nd grade students to be well on their way to learning all they need to know.  In this course you can expect phonics, science, and geography as well as social emotional learning, gross motor skills, fine motor skills,  mathematical concepts, problem solving, language and vocabulary, writing skills and listening skills.  In this class learners will join Wild and Unstructured Learning in an adventure to grow their minds with understanding and readiness for 3rd grade. 
 In this 8 week flex course students can learn at their own pace.  This class is designed for children to complete their weekly work whenever is best for them.  Students will have interaction with teacher and students regularly in the classroom.  Students will have homework and will be encouraged to participate.  Interaction for this class will be high interaction.  Students will comment on other students work as well as post their work in the classroom for teacher and student comment.  Each week we will cover several 2nd grade topics.  We will go through a lot of material so best for parents to help and be close by. This class is for students who have been to 2nd grade and want a refresher or want to learn some 3rd grade topics.  Here is a breakdown of our weeks!

Week 1-
-Grammar-Affixes
 -Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Picture Graphs
-Civics- Voting
-Economics-Paper money
-Life Science-Physical Changes & Properties of Matter
-Reading- Comprehension

Week 2-
-Reading-Comprehension
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math-Bar Graphs
-Geography-Natural resources: renewable and nonrenewable
-Writing-Talk about a special memory you have with a loved one
-Life Science- Light Energy
-Economics- Coin Money

Week 3-
-Grammar-ABC Order
-Reading- Comprehension
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Telling Time 
-Earth Science-Weather Science
-Civics-I want to be president

Week 4-
-Grammar-Literacy Skills
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing-Write an article for the school newspaper offering tips about how to show kindness.
-Math-Money
-Economics- Check
-Physical Science-Chemical Changes

Week 5-
-Grammar-Time Order Words
-Reading-Comprehension
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week

-Math- Adding/Subtracting 3 and 4 digit numbers
-Earth Science-Phases of the Moon 

Week 7-
-Reading-Comprehension
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing-Using the five senses, describe water.
-Grammar- Capitalization and Punctuation
-Geography- Mapping my world
-Physical Science-Force and Motion
-Math- Shapes

Week 8-
-Reading-Comprehension
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Place Value
-Civics- What can I do to help my community?
-Grammar-Sentence Parts (Subject and Predicate)

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This class includes movement/science and craft. We will use scissors at times. We will do science experiments, and we will be moving around. Please make sure your child has a clear safe space to move around as well as comfortable shoes and clothes and water close by. We ask parent's to be with their children during science experiments and while crafting.
