Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 4
Third grade is a big year for learning math! Learners learn about multiplication and division, dive into simple fractions that represent equal parts, and even take a look at place value, beginning geometry, word problems, time and money.

Now that third graders understand addition, subtraction, they work on more in depth calculation of the addition and subtraction operations with 3 & 4-digit addends, skip counting from 0 to 12, multiplication and division are on the horizon. Learners who are ready will learn to use all four operations to solve word problems, learn to read problems, decide which operation they should use and work on solving two and three-step problems independently.

In third grade, learners learn about the concepts of area, perimeter, different shapes. They use their knowledge of simple multiplication steps to solve 1 & 2-digit multiplication problems with 1 & 2 multipliers and multiplicands.

Third grade gives learners a peek into the future. This is the sounding board for third grade learners as they jump, spring and go from learning about math to doing math and mastering math skills that will be their foundation going forward.

3rd graders need to know how to read and write large numbers through the hundred thousands, know the place value for each digit, know multiplication and division, fractions, geometry, measurement, and data and that's what's taught here in 3rd Grade MATH Year Long Curriculum. This course is aligned with Common Core standards.

Third grade is when math starts to get more cumulative. If a learner does not have a strong foundation, they will have struggles here and in the future. Third grade marks a crucial year in the progression of a learner's math skills.

In 3rd Grade MATH Year Long Curriculum, learners develop a solid foundation in the Common Core standards. Learners who enroll will have a continual developmental, sequential curriculum all year round. This may also includes a math summer session, too, if enrollment warrants it. Learners can enroll at any time throughout this course.

*** NOTE to Parents: This class is appropriate for 3rd graders and 4th graders and learners who may need to review and strengthen math concepts taught in the third grade math curriculum.

For academic purposes, cameras and mics must be working and turned on for the duration of each lesson. Eating and drinking should be done before class begins so the learner can focus and attend to what's being taught throughout the entire lesson and remain in front of their computer at all times.

Being an educator for forty + years, I've taught all subjects to students K-8 which included math classes at all levels. I've taught special needs students and designed full curriculum for K-12 students. In addition, I have taught students online for seven years. When I was a young student, I thought I didn't like math because any thing above addition and subtraction seemed a little hard for me. The truth was, I didn't understand the fundamentals of math operations, even though I could calculate and get the right answers every time when adding or subtracting. This is why I am so passionate about learners understanding the concept and relationship to numbers and operations, because once they understand that, learners can build on the basic fundamentals taught at this age and excel in Math and really begin to love it as I do now.
