2-4 hours per week. Each week there will be a list of assignments, games, and projects for each subject along with integrated projects that will cover more than one subject. These assignments will typically require 30-60 minutes of the learner's time per subject per day, leading to a total of around 2-4 hours a day outside of class time depending on how fast or slow the learner works.Assessment
Learners are assessed through the grading of the week-long projects and are given a score between 0-100% using the rubric provided for each project. Parents are welcome to opt out of grades if they are using the class as a supplemental course.Grading
Grades will be given for all graded projects and compiled into a report card at the end of the semester. Parents are welcome to opt out of grades if they are using the class as a supplemental course.Class Experience
US Grade 3
This is part 1 of 2 of a full year of 3rd-grade curriculum taught by a Georgia-certified teacher. We will cover 3rd-grade standards in math, reading, writing, grammar, and phonics. Videos for each subject will be posted weekly. Week-long projects, games, and assignments will be given for each subject to continue the learning. For math and reading, we typically cover one unit per week, with built-in reviews throughout the year to retain what we have learned. For writing/grammar/phonics, we cover one grammar or phonics skill a week and then work on a long writing over several weeks. I will post pre-recorded videos for each subject for students to watch throughout the week. These videos will be posted on Sunday nights for the following week for students to watch at their own pace throughout the week. Each week, your learner will have a choice of projects to complete for a grade. They will choose one project to complete that will integrate subjects from the week and receive a grade between 0-100%. These projects are as simple as writing a report to constructing an experiment and have options for every type of learner so your child can learn and master in their own way. This is the recommended schedule for students, though it is flexible for your specific needs! Monday: Math Tuesday: Reading Wednesday: ELA Thursday: Graded Project for the Week We use the 3rd-grade Common Core Standards. If you are taking a week off for holidays or vacation, let me know and we will add make-up weeks!
