In this one time lesson, students will go through the process of creating their own Pokemon. They will learn how to find inspiration by learning how to brainstorm and put their brainstorms to action to create their own Pokemon. They will also learn how Pokemon are inspired by actual animals, objects and even myths! The class is mostly hands on learning, with a powerpoint slideshow to show different examples of where to find inspiration and showing examples of different designs with different Pokemon, as well as showing different instructions. The class is divided up into two parts: drawing the Pokemon and coming up with what type of Pokemon it is (what type it is and its movesets). There will be explanations of what to do before we start drawing. At the end, students can present their new Pokemon to the others if they want to!
Learning Goals
This lesson is all about creating unique characters! Students will learn how to find inspiration as well as hone in their brainstorming skills. They will also learn fun facts about what some popular Pokemon are based off of!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am an art education major! I have been in a classroom (both in brick and mortar and online) for about 7 years now. Additionally, I've been a huge fan of Pokemon ever since it was first released on the Game Boy! (My first Pokemon game was Blue!) Ever since then, my interest in Pokemon has never waned.
