In this homeschool course, we will start the Level 3 Shurley English curriculum completing chapters 1-8 together. An active subscription to Shurley English online and some materials are required.

Description

Class Experience

By the end of chapter 5 your child should be able to:
1) Classify sentences using the parts of speech: Noun, Verb (including helping verbs), Adverb, Adjective (including article adjective, possessive pronoun adjective), Pronoun, Possessive Pronoun Adjective, Article Adjective, Preposition, & Object of the Preposition.  
2) Identify sentence types: declarative, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory
3) Identify sentence types: fragment, simple, simple compound subject, simple compound verb, complex, or compound
3) Identify the simple and complete subject and predicate in a sentence 
4) Identify if nouns are singular, plural, common, or proper.
5) Write a descriptive paragraph, persuasive essay, and personal narrative.
Our Chapter Tests are to be done outside of class as homework.  They are interactive, and I can differentiate as necessary.  Writing is to mostly be done in class, but if extra time is needed that may be done as homework too.

This code will provide the teacher and SIM with confirmation that all parents and students are following the proper policy for use. Content Delivery Method: All content must be presented live. Recording any portion of our content is strictly prohibited. In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Spelling tests, chapter tests, and writing assignments will be graded: 

Spelling Tests (3 total worth 6 points each) = 18 points
Writing Assignments (3 total worth 35 points) = 105 points
Chapter 1 Test: 37 points
Chapter 2 Test: 65 points
Chapter 3 Test: 68 points
Chapter 5 Test: 93 points
Chapter 7 Test: 81 points
Total for Chapter Tests = 344 points

Total points for semester: 467

Percentage grades at the end of the semester will be the total amount of points earned divided by 467. 

*A certificate of completion and progress report will be provided at the end of each semester.  Each assignment will have feedback provided after it has been graded.
