Class Experience

Students will be using the 3D design program Tinkercad to 3D design 4 Assistive Devices. Assistive Devices are designed to help someone overcome a challenge in their day-to-day lives.

Week 1: Bottle Opener
Students will 3D design a bottle opener for a standard water bottle.

Week 2: Key Turner
Students will 3D design a key turner helping people to open doors easier.

Week 3: Can Opener
Students will 3D design a can opener for people who may have difficulty opening a soda can.

Week 4: Bag Carrier
Students will 3D design a bag carrier designed to help people carry multiple grocery bags without as much difficulty.

Students will watch a video tutorial that will be paused throughout. The instructor will then model each step on Tinkercad while students are following along on their own Tinkercad designs. This will require students to have the ability to go back and forth from the class virtual meeting to their Tinkercad screens.

This class is designed for students who have had experience with Tinkercad before. I highly recommend that students take my other class listings first before this particular course.

Learning Goals

Students will utilize their 3D design skills to 3D design assistive devices that could potentially help others make life easier.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! My name is Dr. Brooks and I am a 3D Printing teacher at a middle school in Southern California. I have had the pleasure of teaching for the past 16 years which has been an awesome adventure indeed!

My motto is CONNECT, ENGAGE, and INSPIRE! Being able to guide and motivate my students to be who they are destined to be is the best part of my job for sure.

My son who is 12 years old, bought a pregnant fish during quarantine this summer. Now he has over 30+ fish to take of.
