Intermediate Level
Students will learn how to build a detailed 3D buildings and explore architecture along the way! Each lesson will begin by learning new SketchUp tools. I will be going over each new tool, how it works, and what it will be used for in regards to the 3D building model. The completed buildings should be submitted to the Outschool classroom. I look forward to seeing all of the wonderful creations.
Syllabus
7 Lessons
over 7 WeeksLesson 1:
Introduction to SketchUp
Student will learn how to build basic building structures.
Student will practice with each tool that is introduced.
Student will learn architectural vocabulary and how it applies to the buildings. Lesson 2:
More advanced tools and concepts
Student will learn more advanced tools, how to manipulate objects, and add windows.
Student will show that they have mastered the basic tools. Lesson 3:
Components
Student will learn to create a component.
Student will show that they know how to manipulate and create a variety of objects. Lesson 4:
Detail Work
Student will learn how to create details for their buildings.
Student will show that they are able to create a variety of different details. Other Details

We will be using a program called SketchUp. You can find a free trial at sketchup.com
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello! My name is Jan and I am so excited to work with your child. I have a Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in Graphic Design and 20 years of experience working with children in the classroom. I am TESOL certified and have been teaching online for the last year. Before teaching online, my husband and I owned a S.T.E.A.M. Innovation Center where we taught camps and classes.
