3D Modeling With Roblox Studio: Beginning Digital Art for Video Game Design

As a homeschooling parent with a background in graphic design and education, and as a lifelong learner, I learned how to use Roblox Studio for video game design and video game development in order to support my own kid's interest-based learning. While learning this, I noticed that Roblox Studio has great potential to be a tool for expressing creativity digitally!

This digital art enrichment club does not require any coding skills. Students will learn basic 3D modeling skills by using the tools available in Roblox Studio, making this class a great starting point for learners who may not feel ready for more complex 3D Modeling software.

By learning basic 3D Modeling skills for Roblox video game design, students will also practice problem-solving skills, imagination, and creative thinking. 

This is an ongoing class with opportunities to socialize with other learners who have a common interest in digital art, video game design, video game development, and/or 3D Modeling.

⭐ Class Structure: ⭐
1. I will greet each student at the beginning of class. Because this is a class that students of varying experience levels may join at any time, I may ask questions to assess what new students may need me to demonstrate and adjust the class as needed to include everyone.

2. I will provide a design challenge theme for the day. The design challenge theme is completely optional and should provide additional challenge if desired. Examples of design challenge themes will be listed below the class structure.

3. This class will function in a workshop fashion. For the instructional portion of the class, I will use screensharing to show my own Roblox Studio window in order to provide visual demonstrations with Zoom annotations if needed. This will involve teaching skills and answering learner questions that benefit from demonstration.

4. Students will work on Roblox Studio during this class. Students may be working while others are asking questions.

5. Near the end of class, there will be time for all students to come together on Zoom and share any work or progress if they would like. Students may also post screenshots of progress in the classroom if they wish to.

⭐Optional Design Challenge Themes ⭐

June 8 - 14: Cats or Dogs! Make a cat-themed or dog-themed design!

June 15 - 21: Fantasy or Science Fiction! Make a fantasy-themed (dragons, elves, fairies, etc..) or a sci-fi themed design (outer space, the future, aliens, planets, etc...)

June 22 - 28: Characters! Your design relates to a character from a book, tv show, movie, video game, comic, etc..!)

June 29 - July 5: Favorite things! This can be your favorite food, favorite drink, favorite animal, favorite holiday, or anything you can imagine. This is a great chance to share something you care about!
