3D Drawing: One-Point Perspective

In this 4-week class, we will explore ways to use 1-point perspective to create realistic drawings of landscapes, buildings and common objects.  Each week we will complete two drawings (plus a bonus drawing for students who finish early or who want an after-class challenge), giving students lots of time to add details, shading, and shadows for enhanced 3-D effects.  (Learners will benefit from taking my 3D Drawing: Level 1 and 3D Drawing: Level 2 classes first!)  We will be using only paper, pencils, eraser and a ruler.  However, learners are encouraged to try these drawings again in other media they might have: colored pencils, pastels, ink pen, etc.

Week One: Lonely House on the Hill, and Road Through the Woods (bonus drawing: Soccer Practice Cones)
Week Two: Art Gallery View, and Little Village on the Prairie (bonus drawing: Super Block Letters)
Week Three: Bird's Eye View of Silos, Pedestrian View of a Big City (bonus drawing: Bird's Eye View of 5th and Broadway)
Week Four: The Tablecloth Trick, and A Room of My Own (bonus drawing: Train Tracks to the End of the Earth)

I have a two-camera setup in my classroom so learners can clearly see my work as I draw.  We stop frequently for check-ins with thumbs-ups (or sideways if help is needed!) and show/shares.  I ask learners to keep cameras on so I can gauge how we are all coming along.  Learners are encouraged to personalize these drawing frameworks however they like as they learn to incorporate 1-point perspective tricks.  

I have been teaching perspective drawing to children and adults for years, and all my students have increased understanding and happy outcomes.
