Class experience
Students will learn acting technique in a kind and professional environment! In these lessons, students can: -Prepare monologues for auditions or general performance development -Prepare specific roles -Learn memorization tips and tricks -Receive insight into reaching your most unique and honest presentation -Build your online presentation so you’re ready for that dreaded self-tape! Students will learn how to trust themselves when presenting the thoughts and words of a character. Students will learn how to memorize material and present it to an audience with authentically, vulnerability, and technical excellence. Students will be encouraged and stretched to grow in a positive, safe environment.
Heidi is a working actor in NYC and is a member of the Actors Equity Association. She regularly trains and performs in the NYC area in paid stage and film opportunities.
Homework Offered
Students will often be asked to work on memorization on their own, throughout the week. However, if students request to use their lesson time for memorization, the instructor is happy to accommodate.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learned progress is assessed by both the teacher and the students. A few questions that may be asked for assessment may include: 1. Did the actor perform their assigned piece with honesty, vulnerability, and textual accuracy? 2. Did the actor feel more in touch with their body and their feelings as lessons progressed? 3. Did the actor book performance opportunities from the prepared material? 4. Did the actor gain confidence and comfort in themselves?Grades Offered
The instructor may occasionally provide monologues in PDF form if she has a relevant option. Shared monologues not in public domain must be used for education purposes only. Students will often be requested to do online searches for free material and/or buy material online for lessons. Students will be asked to have their materials nearby for every lesson and to have a secondary device nearby with headphones for supplemental resources during the lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If parents have specific content requests, please specify. The instructor will pursue G to PG-rated content for their students unless the students specifically requests otherwise and the parent approves.
