Class Experience

Students will meet with me for a one-on-one piano lesson. Each lesson will be tailored to each student's goals and needs, as well as focus on developing piano technique if necessary. I want lessons to be fun and enjoyable, so students that have already taken piano lessons will be free to suggest pieces they would like to play, though I reserve the final say on what we work on. If I do not believe they are ready for their suggested piece, I will provide pieces that are similar, fun, and that they will have success with. IF YOU HAVE TAKEN LESSONS BEFORE, FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME! I'm an RCM teacher also. I accept from ages 5 to 17 on outschool. So feel free to sign up!

Beginner students should expect an education of understanding of basic note value, finger numbers, and basic piano technique. Lessons will be assigned songs to practice on, a theory activity or worksheet. Advanced students vary and student's pieces are traditionally long term.

Other times than those listed may be available upon request. In this case, please request a section with the times you are available and I will contact you with more information. I don't offer make-ups though, however, if at any time a student is unable to attend a lesson that week, I must receive advance notice in order to receive a refund.

Parents may be required to purchase music or music books. The instructor will send Amazon links on what books to buy for the lessons.

Lesson Length:
30-minute lesson per beginner
45-minute lesson per intermediate level(evaluated by the teacher)
60-minute lesson per advanced level student(evaluated by the teacher)

I accept students from ages 6 to 17 in out school. So feel free to sign up! If you are a little older than the age listed, just sign up since it'll be an on one session.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Mark Weathers, but my students called me Mr. Mark. I started taking formal piano lessons when I was 10, but starting playing around when I was 7. My first passion for music from what I can remember has been showing other kids how to play some piano like Heart and Soul! I have been teaching for 8 years, and I am currently the chairman of my local Piano Festival Competition in my area, and organize meetings for all the piano teachers in my area to meet. I have been teaching piano, ukelele, cello for almost a decade full time. Teaching music has the been most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life, and I plan to do it for the rest of my life. I am an active member of Music Teacher's National Association and National Federation of Music Clubs.

I believe that music is for everyone and anyone can learn it. My role as a teacher is to help guide students towards their goals. While I am, classically trained with the piano I am open to students suggestions and questions during the learning process. Students will learn variety of styles from pop to blues to classical to jazz. I also help students with RCM exam prep for students who are interested.

I am actually a citizen of Alaska, and lived here my entire life. But a fan fact I have lived in the Phillippines for 2 years, where half of my family lives! When I'm not teaching music, I am hanging out with family, swimming in the lake, or painting! I love nature, and exploring the different opportunities Alaska offers. A fun goal would be to travel Canada and visit all 50 states in the future.
