In this engaging and laid back ongoing piano lesson, Heidi will teach students how to read music and play piano with excellent comprehension and skill. Heidi focuses on the details from the very beginning, so that dedicated students will develop their independent learning styles quickly. A typical lesson begins with reviewing the assigned music from the previous week before progressing into new songs. Then, Heidi and the student will spend some time together in the theory book. Once...
Students will learn how to read music, and they will learn how to play the piano with proper posture, hand and finger positions, and good artistic technique.
Heidi has over twenty-five years of piano experience. She plays everything - from Bach to the Beatles!
Heidi requests that students put aside five 30 minute practice times throughout the week. Ideally, students would track these times in a notebook for weekly review.
Students interested in the learning it right the first time will be encouraged to purchase the Piano Adventures for Older Beginners lesson and theory book. They can be found on Amazon here: Lesson book: https://www.amazon.com/Accelerated-Piano-Adventures-Older-Beginner/dp/1616779497 Theory book: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1616772069/ref=sspa_mb_hqp_detail_mobile_aax_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9ocXBfcGhvbmVfc2hhcmVk If students are more interested in learning general piano accompaniment and chord progressions, etc, they still may be directed to a book for guidance, but lessons can be more loosely structured.
Students will be assessed based on their progression, but ultimately, the progress is up to the student: if they are dedicated to practice, they will progress!
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
