30-Day Poetry Writing Challenge! April Is National Poetry Month
Class experience
Let's Get Creative! In this 30-day class, students will receive a brand new poetry prompt EVERY DAY, which will include a poem by a contemporary poet that illustrates or helps motivate the student to write, and a short video from me. Ideally, students will be inspired to write a poem every day based on the prompt (but if they don't that's ok too). This class is meant to be fun and a challenge but not strict or stressful. The goal of the class is to inspire creativity, and students are...
Our goals are: - To write as much as possible - To learn about different forms of poetry - To learn about contemporary poets - To grow as creative writers and artists
I'm a bilingual poet, translator, and educator, and my goal is to encourage and inspire young people to develop a creative writing practice. It's something I wish I had as a young writer! Here's a little bit about me: Lupita Eyde-Tucker writes and translates poetry into English and Spanish. The winner of the 2021 Unbound Emerging Poet Prize, her poems have recently appeared in American Life in Poetry, The Cortland Review, Best New Poets 2022, MER, and Ninth Letter. She is currently translating the work of Venezuelan poet Oriette D'Angelo. Lupita will be a Staff Scholar at Bread Loaf Translators Conference this summer and is completing her MFA in Creative Writing - Poetry at the University of Florida in May 2023. She currently teaches creative writing poetry workshops at the University of Florida and has taught poetry to elementary school students in Miami-Dade Public Schools, Florida, and middle school and high school English Language Arts. Lupita and her husband homeschool their children in Florida. Read more of her poems at: www.NotEnoughPoetry.com
A notebook to write in daily. Access to word processing software, such as Microsoft Word. A robust imagination and a positive attitude :)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

We will refer to poems that are found on poetry websites such as the Poetry Foundation and the American Academy of Poets.
