Class experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Intermediate Level
This is a 3-Day Series. Students will meet 3 times. Please note: This class will run 3 times in the same week during holiday breaks. In addition to basic computer skills like typing, opening and closing programs, saving and exporting files, and mouse maneuvering, this class requires some Scratch experience. For students who have no coding and animation background, we recommend joining Series Part 1 before proceeding to this class. Please see the link below: Coding & Animation Part 1:...
3 lessons//1 Week
Week 1Lesson 1Sonic Snowball FightStudents will animate Sonic the Hedgehog tossing snowballs at a Badnik in the Arctic hill zone. Students will utilize keyboard or touchpad input to activate a simple gratifying animation with a through line of Sonic throwing a snowball to hit the robot and have it knocked out.Lesson 2Deck the Polus Halls with Among UsStudents will animate an Among Us crewmate wrapping a present for their friends. Students will implement manual input to animate one action in the task or expand to add additional inputs for the sequence in gift wrapping.Lesson 3Light Up the Christmas Tree with PikachuStudents will create several frames to animate Pikachu bringing his Christmas tree to life with a button or touch pad input. Students can build anticipation for the results of their input in the animation by coding something “new” to happen with each input.
Students will explore the principles of interactive animation creation. Through scripting techniques linked to keyboard or touchpad inputs, they will develop animated holiday activities featuring characters like Sonic, Among Us, and Pikachu.
