This Camp will expand upon the basic concepts of animation utilizing the core coding and art editing tools covered in Part 1 and Part 2. Students will take their skills to a higher level by combining them with actual game design.

Class experience

Through learning the basics of animation while using Scratch coding as an easily approachable tool for animation, students can apply their skills and creativity as we apply them to the five elements of game design: mechanics, space, goals, rules, and components.
Teacher Brittany is a professional graphic design artist and illustrator. She holds a BA in Fine Arts with a concentration on digital art and game design. She also gain valuable industry experience as Technology Lead and Animation Instructor at art schools.
Hardware: Students will need two devices. One will be used to view the class on Outschool (can be a phone) and the other device will be needed to code. The second device must have a keyboard.
Software: Scratch (in browser with account or free desktop download)
Students are encouraged to create a Scratch browser account (https://scratch.mit.edu) beforehand or download the desktop version and get comfortable with locating and opening the program to get ready for the first class. It is recommended that students create a folder for saving projects onto their computers or thumbdrives for use as a backup instead of saving projects online.
