Class Experience

In this class, we will look at labeled drawings of catapults and talk about the key components of them. Builders will then use Lego® bricks to create their own catapults. Once everyone has built a catapult, builders will launch marshmallows, mini-figures, or small bricks and measure the distance. Builders will be encouraged to make small changes to their catapults and to notice how those changes impact the performance of their catapults.

This class will be highly interactive. Students will be encouraged to share their design ideas and to encourage one another. I will provide suggestions and encouragement along the way as each builder uses their creativity to design and build a catapult. Students will be encouraged to be creative, use trial and error, and problem solve together as they design their catapults.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.

- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!

I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
