I love playing board games and video games, and have played Mario Kart games for 26 years, going all the way back to Nintento 64's release. Mario Kart is part of my very being.
In order to play Mario Kart 8 with the class, learners will need a Nintendo Switch, as well as a copy of Mario Kart 8 for said Nintendo Switch. It is also necessary to create a Nintendo Online account. Links for all required materials are available in the "External Resources" section.

Mario Kart is rated E for everyone. There are technically weapons in the game, though they're primarily turtle shells and banana peels, and there is never any blood. If you would like to see if it seems appropriate for your learner, there are several live play videos of the game on YouTube, as well as the trailers for the game on Nintendo's website.
