US Grade 1 - 11
*Let me know what time works for you!* This is a personalized tutoring experience where the sessions are decided by and tailored to your child’s specific needs. I use a variety of methods to help stimulate your child’s focus, including art, videos, games, guided reading, writing exercises, discussion and other hands-on activities. We will go at the learners’ pace. Each session will be different, but communication will be frequent and detailed between the instructor and families so that each learner can get the most out of our time together. I work to build learners’ self confidence and critical thinking skills in any subject area they are working on. Specific topics within each subject may include phonics, vocabulary building, reading comprehension, note taking while reading, context clues, sentence building and grammar, punctuation practice, using inflection while reading, reading fluency, sentence-paragraph-essay writing, addition/subtraction 1-6 digit, multiplication table 0-12, 1-4 digit multiplication, 1-6 digit long division, factoring, fractions, decimals, square roots, deciphering word problems, general math concepts K-8, and more! Hope to be of assistance to your family.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their basic skills related to any core subject that they need help with.

Master's Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University
Greetings! Welcome to my page.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University of Long Beach. I obtained my Masters in Elementary Education and Multi-Subject Credential at Grand Canyon University. Since high school, I have been teaching, tutoring, and creating with learners between the ages of 6-18. I have taught in an academic cohort, and have also developed a summer academic enrichment camp. I have been an instructor on Reconstruction and Liberated Minds Homeschool Hueniversity and am currently with AYA Educational Institute and Kamali Academy.
Teaching, learning, and creating are my passion. I teach classes on reading, reading comprehension, writing, mixed media and graphic art, ceramics, ourstory (history), and topics related to Black/Afrikan, Olmec, and Mayan cultures. I educate from an Afrikan-Centered base and give students the space to know who they are culturally. I have helped many struggling readers improve their confidence, fluency, and comprehension over the last 5 years. In my experience, blending art, games, and creativity with tough academic subjects inspires a love of learning.
In every setting I find myself in, I strive to make it a child-centered experience that encourages positive self-concepts, creativity, and critical thinking. Games are my jam-so for any of those with that competitive spirit, my classes might be for you. I also encourage discussion and interaction, as I believe learning happens best when we engage with others.
Some of my personal interests are: listening to Afrikan music, creating art, spending time with family, playing soccer, gardening, and reading! Right now, some side projects I have going on are taking care of my plants, and making my own website. Hope to see you all in my next class, thanks for stopping by!
