Welcome to second grade math! This is the second class in a series of 4 classes (Fall, Winter I, Winter II, & Spring,) and can be used as your student's sole math course for their year or as a supplement to another math class or curriculum. Students should have successfully completed a first grade math course. We will work through the Singapore Math Curriculum which is aligned with the Common Core math standards. Students will be able to measure length using rulers. Students will be able to estimate lengths. Students will be able to add and subtract lengths to solve word problems. Students will be able to use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays. Students will be able to skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s to find the answer to multiplication problems. Students will learn personal responsibility by coming to class prepared each day. Students will learn to raise their hand and take turns speaking. Students will learn to participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners.

Students will be assessed informally on an ongoing basis. At the end of each chapter, a formal test will be given to monitor student progress. A formal letter grade can be provided upon request at the beginning of the course.Grades Offered
Most materials will be included in the price of the course. Students will additionally need to print out tests at the end of each chapter to be completed in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
