Description
Class Experience
For my standards based approach, I will be supporting the Next Generation and Florida Standards for Second Grade. By the end of this course, students will be working towards mastery and independence on the skills linked to standards listed for each week.
I’m a compassionate and charismatic teacher who loves to teach! I have taught Kindergarten through 5th grade students for the last 10 years. In that time, I have been a general education teacher in the public schools setting for 8 years and specialized as a reading coach to my school for an additional two years. I have been teaching online since February 2020. I have been a full-time Outschool teacher since June 2020. I’m certified to teach Elementary education from Kindergarten to 6th grade. I absolutely love teaching First Grade and I am so excited to extend into Second Grade to continue the learning journey! After the transformation year of First Grade, Second Grade brings ownership, depth, and a deeper understanding of learning to science inquirers and investigations. I have taught these lessons in the public school setting with many students who have mastered the content. Now, I’m looking forward to sharing this fun class with your wonderful student!
Supplies will vary based on each week and optional aid that students can bring to class. I strive to use as many house hold items as I can for our class experiments. We will be using a journal or handouts often for class. It can be a standard wide rule journal for class notes, gluing in our foldables, and data sheets to be placed in. -scissors -glue -crayons Materials to make a cloud in a jar (May 16- 20): - jar with a lid (I will use a mason jar) - ½ cup of hot water - several ice cubes - hair spray Materials for making ice cream in our final class of the school year! Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please be aware that we will be using scissors to construct class handouts and parents should supervise students for safety purposes during class.
