Description
Class Experience
Welcome to Reading Readiness! Step 1: We begin each class with a Phonological Awareness Activity and a 3 part Drill, reviewing sounds and blending sounds to read words. Step 2: We learn a New Concept (phoneme). Using direct instruction, I introduce the letter(s), model the correct pronunciation and teach letter formation. Step 3: We then practice reading new words using that sound and play a game for reinforcement. Step 4: We work on fluency, reading a small just right piece of text...
Students will be able to identify sounds, decode sounds within words and read those words with automaticity.
White board and dry erase marker
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
