2nd Grade Readiness FLEX Version

HELLO!!
Join us in this complete curriculum class for 1st grade students to be well on their way to learning all they need to know.  In this course you can expect phonics, science, and geography as well as social emotional learning, gross motor skills, fine motor skills,  mathematical concepts, problem solving, language and vocabulary, writing skills and listening skills.  In this class learners will join Wild and Unstructured Learning in an adventure to grow their minds with understanding and readiness for 2nd grade. 
 In this 8 week flex course students can learn at their own pace.  This class is designed for children to complete their weekly work whenever is best for them.  Students will have interaction with teacher and students regularly in the classroom.  Students will have homework and will be encouraged to participate.  Interaction for this class will be high interaction.  Students will comment on other students work as well as post their work in the classroom for teacher and student comment.  Each week we will cover several 1st grade topics.  We will go through a lot of material so best for parents to help and be close by. This class is for students who have been to 1st grade and want a refresher or want to learn some 2nd grade topics.  Here is a breakdown of our weeks!

Week 1- 
-Reading- articles
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math-Tens and Ones Place Value
-Geography- Country location on globe
-Writing- Writing a paragraph
-Life Science- Nutrition
-Economics-Grocery store imitation

Week 2-
-Grammar-Related Words (Shades of Meaning)
-Reading- paragraphs
-Spelling-  Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math- Comparing Numbers
-Earth Science- Weather changes
-Civics- Following rules

Week 3-
-Grammar- Multiple Meaning Words
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing-Writing a paragraph
-Math-Adding Within 100 
-Economics- Running my own business
-Physical Science- How batteries work 

Week 4-
-Grammar- Context Clues
-Reading- Level 4 sight words
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math-  Ten More, Ten Less
-Civics- Making a law
-Life Science-Sustainable agriculture

Week 5-
-Writing- Writing a paragraph
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Economics-Running my own business
-Geography- Country location on map
-Math- Subtract Multiples of Ten
-Earth Science- Movement of the sun during the day

Week 6-
-Reading- Level 4 sight words
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Writing- Writing a paragraph
-Grammar-Affixes
-Geography- Locating major bodies of water
-Physical Science- Effects of air pressure force on objects and materials
-Math- Telling Time

Week 7-
-Reading-Level 4 sight words
-Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
- Simple addition and subtraction
-Civics-How to change the world
-Grammar- ABC Order
-Writing- Writing a paragraph
-Math- Counting Money

Week 8- 
-Grammar- Synonyms and Antonyms
 -Spelling- Students will have a spelling list each week
-Math-Counting to 120
-Civics- Different types of Government
-Economics-Grocery store imitation
-Life Science- Infectious disease
-Reading- Sequence
