HELLO!! Join us in this complete curriculum class for 1st grade students to be well on their way to learning all they need to know. In this course you can expect phonics, science, and geography as well as social emotional learning, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, mathematical concepts, problem solving, language and vocabulary, writing skills and listening skills. In this class learners will join Wild and Unstructured Learning in an adventure to grow their minds with understanding and readiness for 2nd grade. In this 8 week flex course students can learn at their own pace. This class is designed for children to complete their weekly work whenever is best for them. Students will have interaction with teacher and students regularly in the classroom. Students will have homework and will be encouraged to participate. Interaction for this class will be high interaction. Students will comment on other students work as well as post their work in the classroom for teacher and student comment. Each week we will cover several 1st grade topics. We will go through a lot of material so best for parents to help and be close by. This class is for students who have been to 1st grade and want a refresher or want to learn some 2nd grade topics. Here is a breakdown of our weeks! 28 Lessons
over 8 WeeksLesson 1:
Reading and Writing
We will read and discuss a nonfiction article and then write paragraphs.
Lesson 2:
Geography and Math
We will locate the country we live in on a map. Then we will discuss place value in math.
Lesson 3:
Science and Economics
We will learn about nutrition and also pretend to go grocery shopping.
Lesson 4:
Spelling and Reading
We will practice writing 1st grade spelling words and then read a book to a family member or friend.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
This class includes movement/science and craft. We will use scissors at times. We will do science experiments, and we will be moving around. Please make sure your child has a clear safe space to move around as well as comfortable shoes and clothes and water close by. We ask parent's to be with their children during science experiments and while crafting.
