Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
During this class, the learners will learn place values up to 100, comparing stories, physical properties, the need for rules and laws, skip counting, classifying objects, measurement, states of matter, continents, addition to 100, fiction vs. nonfiction, force and motion, cardinal directions, subtraction to 100, fact vs. opinion, landforms, telling time, nouns, patterns of the sun and moon, natural resources, graphing, verbs, the life cycle of plants, littering and recycling, reading comprehension, transportation, shapes, main idea and details, area and perimeter, types of clouds,  and time lines.
Mrs. Amy and Mrs. Maria both have experience teaching the subjects they will be teaching. Together, they have over 39 years of experience both online and in person. They have taught all academic subjects in elementary schools as well as online. 
Any homework that is assigned will be used to practice the skills taught during class. The homework, if given, should take less than 30 minutes per assignment. Any projects given will be completed as a group. 
Paper, pencils, ruler, and crayons/colored pencils/ or markers. Handouts will be provided through the Outschool page. If any additional supplies are needed, they will be listed at least 7 days prior to the class session that they are needed.

The learners will be assessed informally based on their participation in class. 
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The learners will be having conversations in which they come up with some of the topics. We will be using some third-party tools for presentations including Canva or Google Slides. The students will not need to access these as we will be using them in our lessons.
The curriculum will be based upon learning standards that are consistent with the standards taught in 2nd grade.
