US Grade 2
In this class, students will receive all the tools to be prepared for 3rd grade. This class includes the following, Math, Reading, Social Studies, English, Spelling and Science. This class will ensure that students are having fun while learning. This is a homeschool class. This class is also open to those who may not be homeschooled. Lessons will be presented in PowerPoint form. Each class will begin with a journal. The journal will allow students to be creative and use critical thinking. Teachers will then move into the lessons for the week. Students are encouraged to participate in activities, group work, etc. Before enrolling in this class, please note that this class does not build on itself!!!!!! Therefore, this class is an ongoing class; parents can enroll in it as they see fit. A certified teacher will teach this class. The teacher will ensure that all learners are learning the material, assisting and giving parent feedback. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Students can access several interactive learning websites, such as NearPod and Zearn. Zearn is an interactive website that enhances our learners' math. Learners will have homework through the interactive learning website, allowing me to give effective feedback to learners. Students will also be able to work on their critical thinking skills, problem-solving with their classmates, and effective communication skills through classroom discussion. I will ensure that I implement arts and crafts as often as possible. *** Please note that students will receive weekly and daily printables. We fill the Eureka Math, Ph.dScience, World History, and Read Works curriculum. Here's our weekly breakdown. Please note that our weekly schedule is subject based on learners needs. Week of 1/16: Reading: Main Idea: Identify and describe the story elements in a story (character, setting, problem, and solution) Math: Sums and Differences within 100 Science: Weather map Social Studies: Women's History Fact Week of 1/23: Reading: Main Idea: Retelling a story using the story elements within a story Math: Strategies for Composing a Ten Science: Weather map Social Studies: Landmarks Week of 1/30: Reading: Predict an event in a story based on a cliffhanger Math: Strategies for Decomposing a Ten Science: Cold and Warm Front Social Studies: Maps: Needs vs. Wants Week of 2/4: Reading: Identify pronouns and the nouns that they refer to Math: Strategies for Decomposing a Tens and Hundreds Science: Weather Types: Hurricane, Tornado, Tsunami, Earthquakes, and etc. Social Studies: What makes a community and the jobs that it operating _______________________________________________________________ HERE'S OUR SUMMER LEARNING BREAKDOWN _______________________________________________________________ Week of May 21st: Spelling: short e sound Reading: Author's Purpose (P.I.E) Math: M 1 L 1-3: Practice making ten and adding to ten. Practice making the next ten and adding to a multiple of ten. Add and subtract like units. Science: living and nonliving things and Nearpod Show and tell on Wednesday Week of May 27th: NO CLASS ON MONDAY (MEMORIAL DAY) Spelling: short o sound Reading: Cause and Effect; Relationship between Cause and Effect Math: M1 L 4-5 Make a ten to add within 20. Make a ten to add within 100. Science: What is in our environment? Week of June 5th: Spelling: short a sound Reading: Cause and Effect; Keys words to identify Cause and Effect Math: M 1 L 5 Make a ten to add within 100. Science: What's in our environment? The project will be assigned! Week of June 11th: Spelling: Short o sound Reading: Classify and Categorize Math: M1 L 6 Subtract single-digit numbers from multiples of 10 within 100. Science: Presentation week Week of June 18th: NO CLASS ON MONDAY (JUNETEENTH) Spelling:-ing words and action words Reading: Main Idea Lesson: Identify and describe the story elements in a story (character, setting, problem, and solution) Math: M1 L7 Take from ten within 20. Week of June 27th: Spelling: ee and ea words Reading: Main Idea Pt: 2 Math: M1 L8 Take from ten within 100. Science: Force and Motion NO CLASSES THE WEEK OF JULY 3RD Week of July 10th: Review Week Math: End of module assessment.
