What will be taught?: This class teaches a full year’s curriculum of Math, English including; reading, writing, grammar/phonics and spelling; Science, including hands-on experiments and Social studies including civics for 2nd grade on a flexible schedule. No live meetings will take place but lots of fun, hands-on videos will be posted to complete at your leisure. Week 1Lesson 1Spelling and EconomicsWe will go over the weekly spelling words and then we will have an economics lesson on needs and wants.Lesson 2Math 1 and Reading 1We will learn about place value in math. Then we will practice reading sight words.Lesson 3Math 2 and Reading 2We will practice identifying place values in numbers. Then we will practice reading more sight words.Lesson 4Science and GrammarIn science we will learn about living and nonliving things. Then we will learn about sentence structure.Week 2Lesson 5Spelling 1 and Geography 1We will go over the weekly spelling words. Then we will discuss maps in geography.Lesson 6Reading and WritingWe will read and discuss a poem. Then we will practice writing complete sentences using correct grammar and punctuation.Lesson 7Geography 2 and MathWe will be discussing globes in geography. Then we will practice skip counting.Lesson 8Science and Spelling 2We will be learning about how scientists classify animals. Then we will review the weekly spelling words.Week 3Lesson 9Spelling 1 and GrammarWe will go over the weekly spelling words. Then we will learn about nouns and pronouns in grammar.Lesson 10Reading and Math 1We will read and discuss a story. Then we will practice comparing numbers using < and >.Lesson 11Math 2 and ScienceWe will continue working with comparing numbers. Then we will learn about the solar system in science.Lesson 12Spelling 2 and CivicsWe will review the weekly spelling words. Then we will discuss responsibilities in civics.Week 4Lesson 13Math 1 and Science 1We will learn how to add numbers within 100 without regrouping. Then we will have a science lesson force.Lesson 14Science 2 and Math 2We will continue investigating force. Then we will practice addition problems within 100 without regrouping.Lesson 15Grammar and WritingWe will be discussing nouns, verbs, and adjectives in grammar. Then we will write a descriptive paragraph.Lesson 16Economics and Spelling 2We will learn about goods and services in economics and then we will review the weekly spelling words.Week 5Lesson 17Spelling 1, Math 1, and Science 1We will go over the weekly spelling words. Then we will learn how to add 3 addends together in math and about animal habitats in science.Lesson 18Math 2 and Science 2We will practice adding 4 addends together and then continue our learning on animal habitats.Lesson 19Civics and GrammarIn civics we will be discussing the purpose of government. Then we will learn about adverbs in grammar.Lesson 20Reading and Spelling 2We will read and discuss a fairy tale and then review the weekly spelling words.Week 6Lesson 21Math 1 and Science 1We will solve addition word problems. Then we are learning about the first two gas planets in our solar system.Lesson 22Math 2 and Science 2We will solve subtraction word problems. Then we will learn about the last two gas planets in our solar system.Lesson 23Reading, Writing, and Spelling 1We will read and discuss a nonfiction article. Then we will write a paragraph and go over the weekly spelling words.Lesson 24Geography and Spelling 2We will learn about the seven continents on Earth. Then we will review the weekly spelling words.Week 7Lesson 25Math 1 and Spelling 1We will learn how to solve repeated addition problems. Then we will go over the weekly spelling words.Lesson 26Math 2 and WritingWe will practice solving problems using repeated addition and then we will write a paragraph about our favorite things.Lesson 27Grammar and Reading/WritingWe will learn about sentence structure. Then we will write a story about our favorite days and read them to someone in our families.Lesson 28Science, Economics, and Spelling 2We will learn about the importance of money and the laws of motion. Then we will review the weekly spelling words.Week 8Lesson 29Math 1 and Spelling 1We will learn how to partition shapes into equal columns and rows. Then we will go over the weekly spelling words.Lesson 30Math 2 and Science 1We will discuss how partitioning shapes into equal parts is related to fractions. Then we will begin our investigation into fossils.Lesson 31Grammar and Science 2We will learn about the parts of a sentence in grammar. Then we will discuss and explore dinosaur fossils in science.Lesson 32Civics, Reading, and Spelling 2We will discuss the differences. between rules and laws in civics. Then we will read and discuss a short story. After that we will review the weekly spelling words.
Children will learn the foundations they need within the 2nd grade (Part 1) curriculum using hands-on and child-led learning styles on a flexible schedule watching pre-recorded lessons.

Homework Offered
