My name is Melanie Hughes and I have been an elementary teacher for the last 30 years. I have certifications in Early Childhood - 6th grade, Special Education K - 12th, and ESL for K - 12th. I have taught Kindergarten through 5th grade. I enjoy helping students reach their full potential and be successful learners. I observed as a teacher, that students learn more productively in small groups. This class is designed for students to review and practice their 2nd-grade language skills.
At the end of each class, homework will be posted on the classroom page. This is extra practice for the students to improve their skills on the objectives taught in class.
Supply List: pencils eraser spiral notebook colored pencils or crayons highlighter 2 books that are the student's favorite. We will use these to compare and discuss story elements.
I do a quick check for understanding throughout the class to ensure the students are comprehending the material. In the last class, I will give a final quiz that will include examples of the standards we covered.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
