2nd Grade Art! (Immersive Art Curriculum for ages 7-8)

There are so many options for online art classes, and it can be difficult to decide which ones will consistently benefit your child. That's why I have created this ongoing class for ages 7-8 which encompasses the basic art curriculum for that age range. (This age range correlates with 2nd grade in the U.S.) Students will learn the basic elements of color theory, spacial relationships, and patterns in art.

This course will equip students with these skills:
-Understand how colors can express emotion.
- Identify primary and secondary colors.
-Identify landscape, portrait, and still life art.
- Understand the difference between background, middle ground, and foreground. 
-Create patterns in art with lines, colors, and shapes.
-Utilize a variety of art mediums and tools. 

I am a strong believer in hands-on learning, so students will have the opportunity to create their own art in each class. Students will learn new concepts by watching educational videos, engaging in lively discussions, and of course putting their newfound knowledge to work in their own art pieces. I will be posting the materials needed for each class on the classroom page one week prior to the scheduled class.

Week of January 23rd: Drawing- Draw Your Family
Week of January 30th: Spatial Relationships- Drawing Landscape
Week of February 6th: Colorful Hands- Negative and Positive Space
Week of February 13th: Color Theory- Paint the Color Wheel
Week of February 20th: History- Learn About Van Gogh and Paint a "Starry Night"
