Class Experience
NOTE: on my class page you will find social studies sections for grades 1, 2 & grade 3. Ask about sibling and multi-class discounts! This class will cover grades 2 & 3 social studies standards such as historical figures, economics, types of maps, 50 states, government, and more. I use songs, books, video clips and art to create an interactive learning environment to help students stay engaged. I have taught elementary school for 12 years, one year on Outschool, and believe in hands-on learning to help with student retention of materials. Due to my art therapy and special education background, I utilize various art activities as well as hands-on manipulatives and interactive materials to keep learners engaged.
I will send out any topic specific handouts a few days before class. Students should come to every class with access to crayons, scissors, glue, paper and a whiteboard (or plain paper.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
