US Grade 2 - 3
** We will be using the book "Summer Bridge Activities 2-3 Workbook" which will need to be purchased so your child can work through it with us. This can be purchased through Amazon.** Kick the summer slide with this fun, engaging 12 week summer camp for 2nd and 3rd grade students! In this summer learning class, we will work on math, reading, science and social studies to review what your child learned in the school year. This will help prevent summer learning loss from the school year and keep those skills fresh in your child's mind! In this class, we will meet once a week and go through the Summer Bridge Activities 2-3 Workbook together. This will need to be purchased to use alongside the class. Along with working on this workbook, I will assign pages for your child to do on his/her own before we meet again next. In the next class, we will continue to work on pages within the workbook. We will not check our homework together since you may come and go in the class at any time. Your child can complete these pages independently if you miss a class for a summer vacation. We will do some fun brain breaks throughout the class to stay motivated and excited about learning! How will the class be structured? We will work on several workbook pages together and review important math, reading, writing, science and social studies skills together in a fun, casual learning environment. We will sprinkle a few movement breaks and silly games throughout the class to keep students engaged! At the end of class, I will assign the next pages for your child to work on independently and answer any questions. If you miss a class, simply have your child complete the workbook pages on their own. My teaching style is interactive, warm and welcoming! I like to keep things moving quickly, while simultaneously making sure all students are on task and ready to move forward. Students will interact with one another through sharing their thought process that led them to the answers, experiences and discussion. While we will be using the workbook to guide our lesson, I will also include lots of opportunities for movement activities, silliness and even more fun since, of course, it's summer after all! If your child just finished 2nd or 3rd grade, this class may be just the right fit. Please review the material in the Summer Bridge Activities book to know if this material will be a good fit for your child's stage of learning and understanding. It may be great for advanced young learners or struggling older learners. We will do a few of the pages together in class and then there will be homework assigned until we meet again next.
